The Smartphones

The Smartphones

I made this painting after a night of partying. Everyone was on their cell phones. I tried to capture how technology has drawn us in and made us leave the real presence in the pleasant moments. The use of bright colors and strong contrast in the painting shows the sense of tension and anxiety we can feel when we tend to be busy with our phones. But the format of still-shaped heads, like these heads lost in the most beautiful moment of the holiday, is sad. here we see the surface of the separation between what is created between us and the true reality. It is a critique that makes us reflect on our opinion about the presence of technology and real events in our lives.I made this painting after a night of partying. Everyone was on their cell phones.
